A Simple Guide to Handcrafting a Resin Rakhi

Give a modern, artsy spin to your Rakhshabandhan rituals by handcrafting a resin rakhi for your sibling and elevate this symbol of tradition into a unique fashion statement.
A Simple Guide to Handcrafting a Resin Rakhi :
1} Mixing-
The first step for any resin project is mixing. Create the mixture of art resin and hardener by vigorously yet patiently stirring them together in a container for at least 3 minutes.
Be precise about the resin-to-hardener ratio—this determines how clear, strong, and bubble-free your final piece will be.
2} Add the pigment of your choice to this mixture.
For an opaque, solid colour, use liquid resin pigments. Just a few drops can create a rich, vibrant hue. Check out Oytra’s Set of 6 Colours, which offers a spectrum of shades to choose from.
For a tinted, translucent, glass-like finish, try Oytra’s set of 6 shades- mica powder. This will give your rakhi a beautiful shimmer and a semi-transparent look that catches the light.
3} Pour into the mould, and experiment with designs:
Rakhis should ideally be made with a small mould that is about the size of a standard wristwatch and has two tiny holes for threading it.
Pour two or more colours into the mould side by side, let them gently run into each other and blend to create a stunning effect.
Or consider glitter flakes – mix them with your resin before pouring, or sprinkle them on top of the resin in the mould.
For a heartfelt personalisation, embed a miniature photo of your choice into the rakhi! Place the picture into the mould and seal it with a layer of plain or transparent-tinted resin.
Try the OYTRA Rakhi Resin DIY Combo, which comes with OYTRA Art Resin and a Rakhi mould with 12 cavities, each with a distinctive design – recommended if you are a beginner on the lookout for a cost-effective option. For buying the mould separately, visit https://amzn.in/d/7UhSJFo.
4} Demould!
Allow your resin rakhi to cure completely. This will typically take 24-36 hours. Ensure that it’s covered so that no dust settles on it.
5} Entwine it into the thread-
Entwine the resin rakhi with a string of slight thickness, add beads if you like and knot to secure tightly.
