So it is very important that the baking process is taken care to maintain the usability of the polymer clay.

Here are 3 tips that we share that can help you with the baking process:

 How to bake polymer clay

1) Temperature: Temperature plays a huge role as it not only impacts the structural aspects of polymer clay during the baking process but also the physical appearance.  Have you ever faced that the clay has turned yellowish or hard and feels burnt when trying to bake? If you have tried everything and double checked the oven as well, then the issue could be with the temperature at which the baking process happens. You can try placing an external thermometer in the oven to check the pre heated temperature. This gives accurate measurement of the temperature. You can then adjust the oven settings to the required levels to get the right temperature for getting the perfectly baked polymer clay. Based on the quality of the clay, you would need to try different temperatures to get the best results. The Oytra Polymer Oven Bake Clay is best suited for temperatures between 120-130 degree Celsius.

2) Time: There are 2 aspects of time that we need to take care of. The first one is during the initial step itself. When pouring the clay from the package, it is good to spend some time to mix all the ingredients. You can also do this by kneading or rolling it out. This step can help all the ingredients to evenly spread in the baking process. It is very helpful if you spend more time to properly mix here.  The other aspect of time is the actual time taken during the baking process. When the baking happens for the right time duration, the mixed ingredients are blended together and form a strong bond. So the longer the baking process happens, the stronger the clay becomes. This varies based on the clay and the oven used. Though the packaging suggests 15 minutes, the recommended time is normally 30-45 minutes to get the best output provided the temperature has been set appropriately.

3) Surface: There are different surfaces on which baking can be done. If time and temperature are taken care of,then the best suggested for the Oytra Polymer clay is the foil sheet or the ceramic tile. This is due to their ability to absorb heat evenly and spread across the surface. Ever experienced overheating or discolouration in the clay? Having an even surface for baking could help with that.

Each of these tips individually are a game changer to the baking process. Now that you know the tips to perfectly bake Oytra Polymer clay, do try and let us know.
